John Henry Summerour grew up in Chickamauga, GA, the son of a Methodist minister. He has worked extensively with the Columbia University Graduate Film Department, both in front of and behind the camera, and with Kulture Machine LLC in casting and script development. John served as director of a camp for mentally challenged adults and children in northeast Georgia, as well as a workshop artist for Hospital Audiences Inc., bringing visual arts to adults living with mental illness in New York City. His first short film, CHICKAMAUGA, was co-produced by Chase Palmer and The Screenwriters Colony and recently played at the 2008 Atlanta Film Festival, Austin Film Festival, Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival and Rome International Film Festival, where it won Best Narrative American Short. His debut feature, SAHKANAGA, which was developed at The Screenwriters Colony, is currently in post-production. Follow the production at www.sahkanaga.com. John is a graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and the British American Drama Academy in London, where he lived for one year. He was a 2002 Fulbright finalist, a writer-in-residence at The Screenwriters Colony in 2006, and a 2007 finalist for the Sundance Screenwriters Lab. John continues to act in theatre and film.
