Writing is a personal endeavor, best done using personal experiences, and so as we discussed the idea that characters in stories have WANTS and DREAMS, I asked students to share some of their wants over the years.

In Nantucket and Nosara we hope to provide writers with an environment that enables them to do their best work while surrounded by natural and meditative beauty. We’ll let you know how it goes, but from the look of these writers, we're all set up to succeed.

Another October is behind us, but we hope the benefits of the experience run far into the future for these four new alumni members of our community.

Finally, after 148 long days and nights, the Writers Guild of America strike has ended.

We are thrilled to announce these four outstanding writers who will join us on Nantucket for our October Colony. Each cohort of writers brings endless possibility because humans and stories will always have endless possibility.

At a glance the Writer and the Actor are very different creatures. Right now, as actors have gone on strike and are sharing their experiences and grievances, the similarities between writers and actors are many. 

When the writers went on strike last week, you can bet it wasn’t for frivolous or wholly monetary reasons. Money is certainly a part of it though.

We are thrilled to announce the four writers selected for our 2023 Episodic Lab! These creatives bring with them a dynamic and diverse range of stories and experiences.

Last month we collaborated with Nantucket Film Festival for our third installment of Screenwriter Sessions. Participants and staff alike were inspired not only by their work but by their approach to the work. The doggedness, the discipline, the openness.

The initial spark is always quick; people are excited to finally meet in person. But then, over meals and late night movies and notes sessions and bike rides and walks on the beach and hikes in the bogs, something much deeper happened.
